HA6 Task 7 - Review

Overall, I think this project went well. It was not too challenging, and I believe I have achieved the goal of the project.

One issue I had during the project was not following the plan, and managing my time correctly. Some tasks were completed days after I had planned to do them, and piled up with my other work too. Another issue was with the drawing. I had started drawing on lined paper, which slightly affected my drawings. Soon after I noticed this I switched to plain paper, and that is where all of my successful art was drawn. I also kept alternating between drawing the robes and the weaponry, and ended up drawing my art very similarly, and didn't experiment as much as I could have.

In this project, one of my strengths was the amount of concept art I had done. I did 1-2 pages of art each for my character, and his weaponry. I also looked at the type of clothing and weapons that can be found in Dragon Age, and took inspiration from those when designing my character.

HA6 Task 3 - Final Illustrations for Character, Objects and Environment

This is the final design for my character. I made his robes look ragged and slightly torn, and I added some bracers to him.

This is the final design for my weapons. My staff has kept mostly the same from my previous design, but has different markings. Instead of a blade at the end of my staff, I gave my character a dagger instead.

HA6 Task 1 - Sources of Ideas

The game series I have chosen is Dragon Age
The first game focuses on a threat known as the Blight, but my character will not be involved in that. Instead, my character (a Mage) is unwillingly thrown into a brewing conflict between Mages, and the Templars that are supposed to keep them under control, but also safe.
My character is in a Magi Tower, belonging to the Circle of Magi, which is a community of Mages under the supervision of Templars, in the land of Ferelden.
My character's objective is to survive as long as he can, and attempt to end the conflict between Mages and Templars, so that there may be peace and order within the tower once again.
My character wears clothing that is influenced by what most mages wear, but is ragged and torn due to the fighting. His weapons include a staff of his own design, and a small dagger for close quarter combat.

HA5 Task 3 - Concept Art Style Profile

The type of art that I am good at drawing is simple and minimalistic, just like the game The Binding of Isaac. I like this style of drawing because it is easy to draw, but it can look just as good as more complex art. The environments in this game are very dark, and also cartoony, which I feel work together excellently. The game has has a sort of 2.5D view, and the art gives this feeling very well.

My other preferred type of art is in a pixelated style, like the game Rogue Legacy. I like this because pixel art looks very unique, but can also simple to do. The environments in this game are very dark and bleak, which help set the mood of the locations.
